Minnesota HS Coaches State Meet Qualification Proposal Voting

Coaches,

Voting for the state meet proposal opens today and voting will remain open until December 6th. We are voting to propose a change to the state meet qualification from our current system of the first place team and the fastest 8 individuals not on the winning team advancing to the state meet. The proposal that we are voting on would change the qualification to the first and second place teams along with the fastest 6 individuals not on the top two teams from each section advancing to the state meet. This proposal if passed will be submitted to the MSHSL Board of Director’s for their action at their June meeting and the change would take place next year.

Voting will take place via email per our association by-laws. Only member head coaches are allowed to vote on MSHSL proposals. Each team, boys and girls, is allowed one vote. A simple Yes or No vote will be taken from each voter. Votes must be submitted to me prior to the end of the day on December 6th send votes to my email address [email protected]. I will compile the votes, verify the votes are from member head coaches, and the release the voting results prior to the end of the day December 13th.

As per our discussion and agreement at the fall meeting the list of programs that are allowed votes will be shared along with whether or not that program has submitted a vote on the proposal. The individual votes of each member will remain private and will not be released at any point. Below is a list of programs that currently have voting rights and also those that do not meet the criteria. An updated list will be updated and sent out to members throughout the voting process.

Rollie Ring-Jarvi sent me a message last week letting me know that the max number of schools for the 3 event meet that he is running and hosted by Benilde-St. Margaret’s at Wirth Park on December 23rd is full with 12 teams participating. The event on January 16th at Camp Ripley hosted by Little Falls on the other hand only has 2 teams registers to date. Rollie said he needs more teams to be able to hold this meet so if you are interested please contact Rollie soon to register your team. [email protected]
