Skinnyski.com High School Rankings - Final

February 7, 2014

Commentary:

Sections weigh heavy into the final rankings as we were able to see skiers competing in both skate and classic on the same day, and without the impact of an upcoming JNQ.

The team competition is heating up but the season leaders cranked some impressive results.  Wayzata girls posted a perfect section score with all four girls looking very strong.  After receiving a bit of a scare from Stillwater in the conference championships, the Forest Lake boys bounced back with their most impressive performance of the season in taking their section title.  A number of the girls teams also appear to be peaking perfectly, with Stillwater and Armstrong putting out strong showings.

In the individual rankings, a couple of the young stars glow a little brighter.  For the girls, Hannah Rudd and Margie Freed have continued to improve all season. Leo Hipp switches places with Nick Gardner as the two battled at sections, with Hipp winning that round by just a few seconds.  The girls top four continue to be very solid, all posting strong section victories.  As it has been all season, much of the boys rankings is shuffled up again based on the skiers with the "hot hand" at this point. Another week in the season, and quite possibly those boys would be shuffled again -- let the State Meet sort 'em out.

That's it - our final ranking for the season.  Next week we'll have our State Meet Preview, including our predictions on who'll be standing at the top of the stairs at Giants Ridge next Thursday.
