Elm Creek Relays / Time Trial

Race condition: some loose snow on top of cold, hard pack base; some sections are newly groomed, yet some sections are icy fast; snow covered the entire 5K race course including Valley, Thicket, and Northern Light trails, 14F, little wind.

Race format of the night: Individual time trial, mass start

Race results: While both the first timer and veteran ski racers are excited about the newly groomed trails, the cold temperature with a bit wind did not help break any course record. 11 skiers raced tonight’s time trial with Pete Hanson took the lead from the start to end, posted his winning time at 12:44, almost a minute and 30 seconds over Jon Kosbab (14:13) and Joe Mundenar (14:35).

The next Wed. night race is the last race of the season, at 7:45pm. Registration opens at about 7:15pm and closes about 10 minutes before the race. If the last gala has a large turnout (20 or more), a “relay” format will be used.
