McKinney Invite aka JV State
On Wednesday the McKinney Invite aka JV State brought together some of the largest JV squads in the state. The venue was the Highland 9 Golf Course. Skiers were sent out into the sleety rain in four large wave starts. Skiing away from Wave 1 and winning the boy’s race was sophomore Derek Waddick from Washburn. It was a tight battle for 2nd and the veteran Highland 9th grader Max (Shaggy) Reemtsma nipped Stillwater sophomore Lane Gessler. Eighth-grader Stephanie Jones from Highland took the lead from the gun and didn’t look back. It was a knockdown battle for 2nd (literally) as Highland skiers Delia Johnson and Hanna Beast Koch knocked each other down twice (accidentally) in a fight for the finish. The Highland Boys and Girls won the team titles.
