    • Jan 18 - Theodore Wirth North (Minneapolis):
      Afternoon
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
      Firsthand: Freestyle

I skied the Loppet course from Wirth Chalet to Uptown and back, maybe 40 km, making it my longest ski of the year. Intermittent bare spots are developing on five of the south-facing slopes. I could have used my good skis but did not expect the trails to be so good. The trails groomed around lakes Brownie, Cedar and Lake of the Isles were fast and not too icy. Watch for bare pavement entering (and re-entering) Cedar Lake from the shore. Some puddles are starting to form, nothing to worry about yet; and one puddle had an alternate path groomed around it. High school skiers started arriving around 3 pm and it was getting crowded by 4 pm.
