Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trail system has been groomed today except for classic trail. Tracks have been set everywhere except white pine trail. The skate lanes range from smooth to a bit choppy and the tracks are full depth to broken up in the sunny sections of trail. There are no bare ground sections today but they are likely to appear eventually.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Huge thank you to the groomers at After Hours for grooming even though there were patches of missing snow! Conditions were like mid winter where there was snow because it was groomed to perfection! Skate deck was cord and the classic tracks were deep and firm! I used my good skis expecting 100% coverage and did end up taking them off to walk across a handful of patches of just grass or mud, but it was worth it because the rest of it was mint! This is worth the drive from anywhere ...use good skis and just take them off and walk across the open stuff...the typical areas that open up first were covered, we thought it was the logging that changed what opened up first this year. We are hoping the groomers will keep it up until the last drop of snow :)

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
I set track on the Classic trail. Areas open to the sun have bare ground exposed with a dusting of snow. All other areas with shade have good base and the track set up very nicely with most being at full depth. Be prepared for areas that are not skiable.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Skiing was still very good at Afterhours. Very good snow coverage exists on almost the whole trail system, with the exception of White Pine Loop, where one bare spot about 50-60 yards long has opened up due to last fall's logging along the trail there. There are a few other spots on White Pine also starting to open up so you may want to either avoid this loop or maybe plan to take your skis off once or twice, or take Rock or B-skis. Otherwise, just one spot on River Loop is opening up that is pretty easy to get around. I'd expect pretty good skiing through the weekend still, although mornings will be icy most likely. Even with the warmer temps in the afternoon, the snow has been pretty fast corn snow conditions!

Oh man-we put on as the fresh grooming was starting to corn up and things got really fast. The trail was roughed up to give a stable ski and we were able to ski everything with confidence. A couple thin sections but otherwise it was aces.
