[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
First time visit to skate ski from 8-9:00 p.m. What a great area to have for short dark days of winter. Over 2 miles of easy terrain trail lighted with 3-4 foot posts with a bright candelabra bulb on top. Open sunrise to 10 p.m. Nice sized parking area, out house and well heated warming house available. The trails look to be capable of being groomed 12 feet wide but only one pass done with a classic track included in that pass. Skate lane was only about 4 feet at times but due to the warm temps in the 40's and now down to 30 degrees, course was plenty fast. Has not been groomed for a while and many deer prints and some snowmobile track. Could not see what we were skiing on all the time due to dark but it was very enjoyable. The open water Mississippi river wraps around the peninsula with a mix of large pines and deciduous. We turned right at every option so that we did all three of the loops but at some points felt like we may be skiing in circles and never end. :-) It was a wonderful ski and felt like we were in a magical fairy forest. Great time! Thank you for this experience.
