Trail Reports

2018-2019 season
Reports 1 to 5 of 5    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Ungroomed backcountry at Sylvania. 18 to 24" of silky corn snow. 1" fresh snow on top. Massive coverage. Only a very few south facing, sun hit spots are bare and easy to detour around. Some debris on the snow under pines (thus the B ski suggestion) I skied waxless, fish scale backcountry skis from north entrance station to the south end of Clark Lake. Sylvania's 15,000 acres of forest is old growth and open, with very little ground level clutter to limit skiing choices.

Bob freshly groomed and tracked the trails this morning for a pretty solid track and base. Lots of snow in the woods and plenty on the trees. Good double track in most two-ways and beautiful downhills. If you waver going downhill, the high trail banks will just gently bump you back on the trail! Get out and ski!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent conditions! We received lots of new snow this week, so much so that we had to pack the trails first and then groom. All of the fresh new snow also created quite a winter wonderland. The trails are only groomed for classical skiing.

Afternoon

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the trails. They were in good to very good condition! A small amount of debris in a few areas but I still would use my 'good' skis. Bob has done a great job maintaining the trails!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Bob has worked his magic with the trails in a moderately low snow year! All loops open and nice and fast. Deep tracks. Slowed a bit in afternoon when temps hit 35 degrees but got my ski in by noon.
