2022-2023 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I would say fair/good for classic and good/very good for skating. For classic: the tracks are deep and firm, but oak leaves and blown snow slow it down. It's fine but not great. I really enjoyed the skating. It's very firm and fast, but there's enough grip to stay in control. The debris is generally a non-factor for skating. There are some icy spots, but they're pretty infrequent and easily navigated. I would 100% endorse going Sunday.

Beautiful evening out at Standing Rocks. The skating deck is hard and fast and was freshly groomed, and turned out very nice considering the recent rain and refreeze. The icy spots are easy to navigate around and easy to see. Snow still quite clean of debris despite the wind. I couldn't make it earlier, so lighted trails were the icing on the cake.

Rocks was groomed and in great shape, thanks to the recent snowfall. I skied the red loop in the afternoon, the skate deck was getting soft in the sunny areas but it still great for this time of year. Tracks looked to be as good also. Thank you Portage Co. Parks for a great season!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails (excluding connectors) were groomed after Sunday's big snow. A little soft this afternoon but still great skiing. I hopped into the tracks on downhills and flats and found them deep, firm and zippy. Overall, possibly the best conditions of the winter - particularly for those of us who prefer control over speed.

The trails are in good to fair condition with the 4" of snow we received. Track has been reset on all the trails. There is some icy and thin areas due to having bare ground before the snow.

I got there about 11:00 a.m. All freshly groomed. Very little debris on the trails. A couple bare spots where the groomer tracks spun out, easily avoidable. Skate and striding both in good shape.

Classic in track and on skate deck, late morning into mid afternoon. Good snow coverage. Rare bare spots and somewhat crusty in areas, but very good overall.
