Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We groomed for the last time this season today. Despite the amount of snow on the trails, we were grooming more ice than anything else. The deck was cleaned up this morning, but the classic tracks were left alone. Those tracks are marginal at best. Weather for the week was not looking promising and that helped with our decision to call it a season.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails were rolled on Sunday and groomed this morning. In the cold morning air, they set up very nicely. Keep in mind in the coming days as day time temperatures rise, the trails will become soft. Try to avoid skiing during those times, and ski early or late. This will help us maintain the integrity of the snow. We will continue to groom until the 31st, or when conditions become such that we cannot take the equipment out. There is still a good base, and as long as it gets cold in the evening, we can still do something with it.

Firsthand: Classic

Great classic ski conditions here Sunday afternoon-nice firm track and skate lane. The grooming on Saturday set up nicely for today. Joanie and I skied almost all trail segments and loved the scenery and hills under the bright sunshine. Had not been here in years, so this was a real treat. We even used the nice connector trail to ski a couple of miles out and back on the Cassian Trail (I posted a separate report for that). Thanks for the great grooming!

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trail was groomed twice today. Tracks were reset because of last night's snowfall. Deck was compacted again, and with the cold temperatures, everything should firm up nicely.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Despite the 15+ inches of snow, the trails are all groomed and ready for skiers. The deck is firming up nicely, and the new tracks look great. The Landfill loop was not groomed, because the drifts are high. It will need some special attention before it will be skiable. Some snow is forecast for tonight, which means the trail will need a little attention tomorrow. Otherwise its ready to go.

Lovely classic with friends. Softish conditions, but it should firm up with another grooming or two. Very nice vertical terrain for the kick and glide set. To be highly recommended.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Our crews put in a lot of hours since Tuesday to get the trails ready to go. As of this morning the last of the tracks were put down, along with cleaning up the deck is spots. The next few days look cooler and the trail should set up. The trail will be cleaned up again Saturday morning and either late Saturday or early Sunday.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
This trail system was recently groomed but conditions continue to be only fair. Even with all this new snow and new tracks set, there are still places where clipped but long, stiff woody stems are sticking out of the snow especially on the side of the skating lane where the classic tracks are set. Be careful not to catch a ski on these woody stems, it can cause you to trip.

Some great snow conditions exist at Washburn. The trails were tracked and a new deck is in place. The entire surface should firm up with the low temperatures.

After the 7+ inch snowfall all we did today was to compact and roll the trail. With possible snow Thursday, we will be compacting and rolling tomorrow afternoon/evening. The plan is to create a new corduroy deck and tracks by Friday afternoon.
