Base 0 to 12 inches. I skate skied a few trails today and found them to be better than I expected. Late season skiing is not for everyone, however. Although there were very few bare spots there hasn't been any recent grooming and the surface varied from smooth and firm, to lumpy and soft. I don't think it's worth a trip up from the Cities (or even Duluth) just to ski here, but if you're around and want to enter the 'last person to ski at Pincushion' contest, there's still time. As a famous baseball player said: "It ain't over til it's over". On most days, mornings will provide the best experience and if you're out there past noon, you're probably too late. Although I used rock skis, good skis would not have been scratched, but snow cover can diminish quickly at this time of year. Ski with caution.

Base 18 inches. We groomed some of our trails with a snowmobile this evening. Skate lanes were touched up and new classic tracks were set on our Pincushion Mountain loop. The surface was a hard, refrozen crust and did not groom very well. Expect typical spring skiing conditions for the rest of the season. Above freezing temperatures during the day will likely soften and melt snow while colder temperatures during the night may refreeze the surface and lock in marks left by the previous day's traffic. Timing is everything for spring skiing. Mid morning outings are generally the most enjoyable and have the lowest impact on the trails. Due to cost/benefit considerations, grooming will be limited for the remainder of the season. Ski with caution as you may encounter uneven surfaces, debris and ice on the trail and fast/slow transitions.

Base 20 in inches. Most trails were groomed this morning for classic and skate skiing. Spring conditions are setting in with firm and fast conditions early in the day and transitioning to soft and slower as temperatures warm. There is some debris around the system from previous windstorms that surfaces as the snow melts. Ski with caution as there may be some soft spots as well.

Above freezing nighttime temperatures and intermittent rain forecasted for Wednesday and Thursday will produce soft and sticky surface conditions. Colder weather will return later in the week and we will be out grooming again after the snow refreezes. Ski with caution.

Base 24+ inches. 3-4 inches of new snow on Sunday. All trails were groomed for classic and skate skiing on Monday morning. Spring skiing conditions have arrived. Expect the trails to be fast and firm in the morning, but slower and softer later in the day as the temperature climbs above freezing.

Skated all the Pincushion loops today. Skate deck was firm but starting to get soft as temps climbed to 40. Snowman loops skate deck was difficult due to 4 sets of side by side hiker foot prints which kept tripping me up. But the rest of the system had great grooming and decent glide in spite of a glide wax that was for colder snow.

Base 24+ inches. 2-3 inches of new snow on Sunday accompanied by 50 mph winds. Widespread drifting was tackled by our Pisten Bully on Monday with good results. All trails groomed for classic and skate skiing. Although the large debris was removed by the groomer, some small branches remain on the trails (feel free to toss them into the woods). Ski with caution as you may encounter some soft areas.

Participated in the Pincushion Mountain ski festival today, doing the 30K classic race. The grooming was immaculate, the race and ski conditions perfect. Firm tracks, firm deck, great race. Great glide and kick with Swix VR30. Recreation skiing tomorrow will be ideal.

The trails were in great condition. We saw the groomer. We went up to Canyon Curves and it was a fun trail. The tracks were good.
