[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Spent Thursday-Monday at Gunflint Pines Resort on Upper Gunflint system. Conditions were great despite the fact that the snow was relatively old. Scenery was beautiful, obviously.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
First time here in many years. Classic skied many of the trails. Grooming was a few days old and new snow of about an inch was everywhere as there were very few skiers out. Great hills but soft deck which prevented double poling in most places. Somewhat confusing signing and trail map was essential to finding way thru an intricate system. Beautiful scenery on trails along ridges, with views of Gunflint and Magnetic Lake. Like to go back.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Another nice inch or two of fresh powder overnight, although some trails (North Star, Aspen Alley) were already heavily skied over and tracks are obliterated especially on inclines/declines, a bit loosey goosey in other places but still in decent shape.
Small tree down overnight across the north end of Highlands, on the flat near where the tracks end. Can be stepped over without unclipping but comes up fast around the curve from the south.

Western half freshly groomed and in excellent condition - no signs of any grooming on Magentic Rock at Warrens Road end though. Signage is hit and miss, bring a map!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Skied two laps of big pine and a bit of west end. The trails were decently packed, but not tracked. We were warned of some possible rocks in the trails, but only saw one or two. Overall a fairly decent ski.
