Trail Reports

2022-2023 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Rock skis ]
Somewhat like backcountry skiing. Decent snow cover almost everywhere, but a little thin in spots. Was able to avoid the debris pretty well. On the paved trail sections, you'll want to take care your skis stay flat to avoid slicing an edge down to the blacktop. My old non-waxable, non-sintered base skis worked well in these conditions.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Quite possibly the last of the season. Although there is plenty of snow at present, conditions are deteriorating fast. 38 degrees yesterday afternoon which softened up the icy trail. I skied to Syan point and back. Not too bad. The conditions definitely exceeded my expectations. Enjoy it while you can.

Afternoon
Observation
Stopped by early afternoon. Not groomed. Fair amount of snow over the trail by parking lot and around visitor center. Didn't look further down in the trees.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Most of the system is soft but lovely. A few south-facing sections are icy from snow falling from trees. There's one bit before the second bridge that wasn't groomed (groomer issues), but we bushwhacked to connect the trail.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were groomed and tracks set this evening. Most tracks are real good, but where the canopy is heavy, the tracks may be a little shallow.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails at the Forest History Center are all groomed. Most sections are nicely packed dry powder, with a few segments of crusty snow/ice. Grooming plans: We'll groom again on Friday, before our big Winter Family Fun Adventure Day on Saturday. Enjoy the trails!

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails are all groomed and in good condition. The cold weather turned a lot of snow into sugar, so some sections are a bit soft. Hopefully they'll set up nicely overnight. The Forest History Center parking lot is currently open on weekends, so trails can be accessed from our parking lot, or from the 14th St Sylvan Point parking lot. Get out and enjoy the trails!

All trails at the Forest History Center have been groomed and are looking good. One small downed tree on the swamp trail has been cleared. River trail has typical needle debris and lovely views. Get out and enjoy!

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
We groomed and set tracks on the River trail, the Swamp trail, and all the way out to Sylvan Point, in the afternoon. The snow has set up nicely overnight. Trails are in very good shape with the exception of a lot of wind blown pine needles in the tracks. We are still clearing trees on the Forest of Today Trail on the far west side of the property.
