Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I groomed trails again after we got about 3" new snow on Wednesday. Skate lanes look beautiful, classic tracks vary from excellent to just fair (shallow and wavy in spots, some small bare spots here and there, but avoidable). Should be very good for skiing at least for a couple of days. This might just be the final groom. Gaiter trail is mostly groomed (not the part that lead to the marsh due to thin ice out there) and the segment that connects to the Rib Lake Trails is groomed.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
I classic skied the trails (about 15k groomed) this morning after a week of warm temps and then 7" wet snow. Conditions were highly variable, from excellent to fair. A few bare spots (avoidable) and some icy spots (ski with caution). Really could use a couple inches of snow. B skis recommended.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
After getting 7+" new snow, most of our trails (all except Gaiter, which has some open water flowing through the marsh) were rolled/packed yesterday and then I groomed this morning. Its pretty soft but looks great and should ski well, especially after it firms up overnight. Should be some great skiing on Sunday; stop by on your way home from Hayward! Also - the Rib Lake Ski Club trails (25-30km)are also being groomed today.

Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
I walked some of the trails on snowshoes to see what trail conditions were; there were some areas that had long stretches of good snow but also some bare ground with rocks and dirt poking through. So trails are closed to skiing for now. We plan to have some of the trails groomed and open starting on Saturday.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trails that are part of the HinderBinder Race course were all groomed this morning, including setting new classic tracks, which turned out quite well after putting the Ginzu groomer knives down and making two passes. We still have a good packed snow base. Race conditions on Saturday morning - should be fast and excellent at race start time, then warming up and becoming slower over time. Picking the right kick wax could be tough; waxless skis (or skating) may be the way to go. The Rib Lake trails will be groomed tonight or early Friday morning. The trails will be closed to skiers and snowshoers on Friday.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Plenty of snow base still but it is like spring skiing; icy in the morning and evening, soft in the afternoon. And now there is a problem with the grooming snowmobile that will delay any more grooming for several days. The Rib Lake HinderBinder race next Saturday is still a "go" and the race course will be groomed with the Rib Lake Ski Club's new equipment so it should be fine.

We only received about .5" snow but the trails groomed out very nicely today. Excellent conditions; enjoy it while it stays this way!

Pretty close to a perfect day to ski; fresh groom this morning, blue skies, sunshine, but not too warm. Excellent for skating or striding.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent conditions. Some of the trails were a little beat up from school groups here so we regroomed where needed and it is skiing great, both for classic and skate. The trails are always open to the public and groomed frequently but usually not on Mondays (a day off and my day to be skiing instead of grooming).

I am grooming all of the loops today (18k, skate and classic) and should be done by early evening. Should be excellent skiing Wednesday! The adjacent Rib Lake Trails are also being groomed today.
