A bit of snow left at Mt Itasca. Nothing to ski bet a remnant of a long winter. Will be back in about 6 months.

I skied Mt Itasca to evaluate for possible grooming, provided enough of the base remained over a large enough loop of trail. I hadn't skied since before the big heat wave. While there was base remaining in most areas, there were enough gaps (and I had been in the Twin Cities until today) that I concluded it was probably not worthwhile to groom. Enjoyed the new snow, nonetheless and took advantage of other tracks that had been made.

Early Earth Day celebration featuring a half foot of new snow. Dug out the fish scales for the first time since October and followed the trail that was already broken. The weather was mild, so no complaints.

Fresh snow is nothing to "grouse" about. Great classic ski conditions on all trails. 28 degrees and bright sunshine. Twin skins climbed well at +1. The latest grooming run is greatly appreciated.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed biathlon and Grant-in-Aid trails for probably the last time this season (we'll see about that) and set tracks. Skiing should be great before the weather really turns warm. Get out and ski!

Amazing conditions for April 1. Perhaps the best skating of the year this morning; was groomed with Pisten Bully Friday night. Classic tracks were deep and fast, if a bit icy. Was starting to get soft in sunny areas in afternoon. Still a lot of snow out there. We had an April Fools Nordic Fest and were blessed by the conditions!

Omigosh what a beautiful day to ski in the sun and freshly groomed/tracked trails, then end with outdoor picnic lunch and campfire. Until at least noon the snow was firm with good bite on the downhills.

Grooming the evening before plus about half inch of new snow made for some really nice conditions. Base was firm and not sun-baked at the end of the day, thanks to some much colder than normal temperatures and cloudy skies. Awesome late season conditions!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Refreshed everything on the trail system after I skied and found the conditions a bit sun-baked and icy. Given the forecast, I thought I'd repair the base. Should be great skiing!

Outstanding skate skiing conditions at Mt. Itasca. Recently groomed with Pisten Bully. Deep, firm classic track throughout. Skate deck not icy this morning, but that could change with warm up. Get out there!
