We are shutting it down grooming for the season out at Les Bolstad. It was a great season and we thank everyone for coming out. I look forward to more waves and smiles next year.

I found that skating was difficult-to-impossible with a few inches of fresh snow which had not been groomed. I took a face plant within the first 100 feet, not being able to lift my ski from under the snow, and turned around and headed to another area where they are grooming. Looked like the classic skiers were doing just fine.

Great snow and sunshine this morning. Snow was very good and grooming had tqken place over the weekend, with an inch or two of new snow on top.

Trail is wind blown, with 1-2" snow covering parts of tracks. Classic tracks completely covered. Trail is skiable with no ruts, ice or bare spots.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Made a few quick laps to pack down the new snow as more began falling. With the sticky wet snow and warm temps my equipment can't do much besides pack this stuff down. Skate deck will not be table flat this time of year but we are skiing in mid March.

Night
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic tracks were solid and mostly very good, though the bottoms looked glazed on places. Sometimes the snow grabbed my skis, though never badly enough to induce a fall. Skating was, as expected, soft, sometimes caving underneath my skis. Overall, classic was better tonight. The U of M golf course is the place to go if you enjoy grooving on the silhouettes of oak trees.

Grooming

Groomed and set a classic track at UMN. Wet snow and warm temps- it's definitively spring conditions. Coverage is excellent, limited icy areas underneath.

No new grooming yet this week and the port-a-potty is gone. Some snowshoe tracks but that's all. I had skate skis and couldn't find the trails.

March skiing is an adventure. Skaters beware of ruts and ice. Classics beware of icy tracks. Fast and fun but be ready to fall and don't get stuck in a rut. New snow and a groom would be nice but this is skiable so have fun.

Great job grooming! Softer track but got a great classic ski in.
