Enjoyed the five or so inches of new snow. Groomer has been out on most trails. A few of the connection trails have not been groomed. Afton State Park is truly a gem.

Excellent weather conditions this morning! Classic skied the prairie loop. Freshly groomed and tracked but a little soft and slow.

Skied all of Prairie Loop and cutoffs; used 50th Street entrance. Two sets of parallel classic tracks set. Snow was soft, but very good coverage overall. Just a few bare spots on the top of a couple of hills. I used my good skis and just moved off the track to get around the small bare area. There were a few dog walkers out yesterday. The people were off the tracks, but can't say the same for the dogs. Other than a few dog prints, the tracks were mostly deep and very well set. Had a lot of fun.

Several of us from the North Star Ski Club classic skied the trails near the visitor center in Afton State Park this morning. The trails we were on were all freshly groomed after the new snowfall last night (thank goodness). Some ice under the snow in very isolated areas, but on average, no problem, and the going was great. The scenery in the woods, in the open areas, and on the long flat trail by the river made the park a very enjoyable place to ski.

Beginner loop in really bad shape. Don't recommend it. Really icy, lots of drag.

Trail was not skiable yesterday after area received +10" of snow but ranger assured me they were going to set the track in the afternoon.

Skied the Prairie Loop at 10am. Good snow conditions on most areas of the trail, but grooming tracks for classic skiing were wearing down. Northeast section of the Northern loop had a 6" diameter tree fallen across the trail, and about 100 yards of bare ground in the center of the groomed trail.

Groomed and tracked and great. Enjoyed the hills. Classic skiing, did 8 miles with conditions great throughout.

Trails were corduroy-packed by staff a couple of weeks ago, but are ungroomed and untracked. Lots of hiker tracks, but the base is firm and little debris. I skied the North Prairie Loop down to the river bottoms. Until more snow, there is nothing to groom, but it was very skiable with no need for rock skis.
