Swung by Baker after skiing at Wirth, Baker gate was closed. Looks to be shut down for the season.

I would describe the conditions this morning at Baker as miraculous. I skied Island / Timber / Prairie twice. The grooming was very good, with just a couple icy patches. It was just starting to soften up and get a little wet when I called it quits around 11am. I should've taken some pictures but I couldn't stop skiing!

Skated Hill, Island, Prairie, and Timber multiple times. The groomers did a fantastic job of creating a nice uniform deck with plenty of snow to work with. Maybe the best conditions of the last three days for me. I'd say everything was in good condition, even very good, except for Island, which I might say was fair — there was a lot of frozen slush going out to the island and some on an uphill, and a lot of leaves and dust in the snow. Still no loss of control though and a lot of fun. It seemed the snow was softening pretty rapidly by the time I left late morning.

At noon the perimeter trails were in fair to poor condition for skating. There was 100% coverage but snow conditions were highly variable - from frozen, moderately rutted on the hill from the trailhead down to Island, to reasonably skateable corn on Island and Timber, to corn on Prairie that skated okay on the gentle downhill, slowed me on the climb to hill above the fairway and had me herringboning up the hill back to the trailhead. Trail had not been groomed and the temps probably won't permit it unless they get out very early in the morning. It was 37 degrees at my start. I am sure it was few degrees warmer when I ended an hour later.

Skated the Hill, Island, Timber, and Prairie trails again today late morning. Really great trails again today. The trails didn't seem to have been groomed since I went yesterday but were still in really good shape. There was a bit more variability in trail condition, in the sense of being a teeny bit icier in places and a teeny bit softer in others, but still an amazing ski. Perfect spring skiing. Thanks to the groomers for such an outstanding season.

This season continues to surprise me. I skated most of the trails and it was some of the best skiing of the season. Firm and fast; a little crusty and icy, but pretty good overall, and I could get an edge everywhere easily. Some solid ice near the trailhead and on the trail connecting the Hill and Island trails but again not problematic. The tracks were nonexistent in places, and pretty shallow in other places.

Similar to many other reports from the area, the conditions at Baker were excellent. The cold morning temps prevented the snow from melting in the warm afternoon sun with only a few spots showing some light melt. "Magic" hour was pushed to 3pm. All trails were excellent for skate. Limited trails were set for classic.

Baker was great today. Hit all the trails. All in very good shape. Best conditions today in many weeks. Snow was moderate fast. Wind blown areas were slower. Some ice spits on flat areas like bridge to island trail. Classic tracks are set and look good on Fairway trail. Other trails the classic tracks are not set. Trails should be great tomorrow as well. Get out and ski!

Fresh and soft tracks. Hardly skied on in most locations! Should get faster as trail packs. Skied fairway, island, timber and prairie loops.
