Our Chester Woods multi-purpose trails have been groomed and are in good condition. A few spots may be a little icy, but not bad at all.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The warm temps and lack of snow have definitely taken their toll on the groomed trails at Chester Woods. The trail base is thin through many of the open areas that receive a lot of sun. In the more shaded areas the trail is better, but still a few places where leaf litter is poking through. The trail is firm during the morning hours after the colder nights, but by the afternoon it tends to soften up. We suggest best usage in the morning while it is still firm and temps are cooler. Grooming will not take place until we get more snow, as to not disturb the current trail.
The track machine has been run around the Chester Lake Trail as well as the Kisrow Trail for hiking/snowshoeing.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Surprisingly good coverage! There were many sections that looked like midwinter with full snow coverage and a good classic track, and then there were other sections that had a few bare spots. All bare ground was easily avoidable though, I am only listing B skis because it was quite warm while we were there, so I am guessing the bare spots grew a little after we left. Overall a fantastic ski in the woods!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Volunteers just finished grooming the trails. They combed out the skate lane and left the track as it was. The snow is a bit soft, there are a few thin spots, but most of the trail should be good skiing conditions. The bikes may find the snow a bit too soft and will probably sink in a bit, so again, please stay to the side of the groomed trail opposite of the track and leave the middle open for skate skiers.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trails have been groomed today and a new track was set. Conditions are good, snow is a bit soft. We do ask that fat tire bikes stay to the side of the trail to allow the skate skiers a flat lane.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skated Chester Woods Wednesday. Conditions were quite variable. In places very good skiing but there are places with dirt showing through. Would not recommend using good skis. For some reason the groomer was pulling rocks to the surface. I picked 20 or so rocks off the trail, mostly on the steep hill on the southwest corner.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The multi-purpose trails have been groomed. The conditions are good. The snow is medium-firm, meaning that it is not too soft, skis won't sink in much, but walking tracks could sink a little. A classic track was also set. Fat tire bikers should refrain from riding on the track, and even possibly wait for the snow to firm up a bit (possibly overnight).
