Notes

The famous Birkie trail. A great, rolling trail through the woods between Cable and Hayward. There is a short section south at Hwy OO that is lighted. There are snowmaking trails at the Start area.

Firsthand: Both 
[ Rock skis ]
Skied from the newly remodeled Boedecker cabin trailhead, north on classic trail to the fire tower cabin, returned on skate. Good rock skiing, 3+ inches of dense snow. Be careful, it's rugged, but it's skiing and it was fun.

Observation 
[ Rock skis ]
Went for hike on lighted loops at OO and found 3 inches of snow on the west (hilly) lighted loop at OO. I think I could have used rock skis if I had them. The last photo I sent is from Picnic Table Hill where snow if quite a bit thinner.
