Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Grooming plans: We continue to make snow around the clock. Once we have enough new snow stock-piled, we will open a new section of the human-made loop. After the close of skiing today, we will groom the current human-made loop (including classic tracks) and have it ready for a busy weekend of skiing. There is still not enough natural snow on the rest of the Birkie Trail for grooming activities. We will post again later tonight on exactly what grooming was done. Enjoy!

Had a wonderful ski on the 1.21K, man made snow loop, at the Birkie start area. One herringbone hill and one long gradual uphill. One fast downhill and several short downhills. They are making snow for another loop. What a great venue for December 6th. A shallow track 1-2 inches in depth is set for classic skiers.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
We just finished up grooming the 1.4 km human-made loop at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead. We received an extra 1" of snow last night which mixes well with the primarily human-made base. We are continuing to make snow and will extend the length of the loop later this week. We will continue to groom the human-made loop as needed. Check back for more details. Enjoy!

[ Rock skis ]
The trails at the Hwy OO trail head have enough snow for skating with rock skis. Probably not enough to set track.

The man-made loop at Birkie Trail Head in Cable is up to 1.25km with a nice climb and classic tracks. Loop has 12-15" of artificial snow with approx. 1" of fresh snow on top. Was good skiing with lots of folks out!
Note: Rest of Birkie Trail has approx 2-3" of fresh show and is getting close to grooming, but not quite yet. Get out and enjoy!

Skate skied the Birkie start area this morning. An inch of fresh snow over the man made snow. Man made loop is 1.18 K long. Should be a very nice ski when they finish grooming and set track. Several hills in the loop. If you ski the loop as a figure 8 it seems much longer.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
As the cold has returned, we have been making more snow. Tonight we pushed snow and were able to extend the human-made loop to 1.5 km. The full 1.5 km was groomed. No classic track yet. Come on out and enjoy!

Skied the .73 K loop this morning. Dusting of snow over the rather hard man made snow. Snow gun is running. No track set so it is not good for striding. OK for skating. Another larger loop is partially finished. All it will take is some time and patience.

Rain is falling in the northwoods, but expecting to turn to snow tomorrow morning. When cold temps return, the snow guns will fire up again. Check back for more updates.

Early Season update: Snowmaking continues with the goal of extending the length as much as possible. An Early Season Snow Pass is required until the greater Birkie Trail opens.
Birkie Trail Update: The Birkie Trail is certainly snow-covered and there is more snow in the forecast. There is no plan to groom yet but keep checking back and we will certainly post that information when it happens. Once the Birkie Trail opens, a regular Birkie Trail Pass is required. All pass purchases help to offset the cost of snow-making and grooming. Enjoy!
