[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We skied Saturday and Sunday (skate). Overall trails were in very good to excellent condition, which is surprising given the warm weather, recent rain, and lack of snowfall lately. Trails had old transformed snow, but kudos to the groomer(s) for really making the skate lanes fast and good. We had excellent edge and speed on all trails (20 and 10 km loops and the alps). There is leaf debris but easy to maneuver around. Used our "A" Carbonlite skis and a Black Wolf 8 wax, which was perfect for the conditions. Hoping things hold up a bit longer. Thanks again to the groomers for making great trails out of far-less-than-perfect conditions.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Excellent grooming on the northern 2/3 of trail system. Heavy debris from wind in areas with tall pines and oaks, but most other areas good to pristine. Skate deck was hard and fast in the late morning but not slippery. Overall great skating. Classic skiing reportedly tougher going with debris in track and glazed/wet track. Bushwhacker loop was a skating rink; would not recommend it until it gets groomed.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed skate deck was getting soft by afternoon when we skied, but still nice. Southwest facing hills were slow and soft. Classic skiers were happy with firm tracks but also experiencing mixed glide and grip with temps in high 30s.

Skate lanes touched up and fresh track set on most of the system. The old Ivey snow tends to set up very hard, but groomers are trying to keep them skiable. Plenty of base to work with.

All trails freshly groomed both skate and classical tracks. Plenty of snow base with tilled up surface for good edging and classical kick. Fun skiing today.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Glazing from yesterday's drizzle was tilled into the skate deck. A portion of the track was reset, and the rest will be finished tomorrow. Conditions are fast and firm in the skate lanes. Classic track firm, and waxless skis or klister needed in the tilled corn snow. Overall very good and should hold up for the weekend.

Trails were great today and the weather was about perfect. Skate-skied 3 laps of the 20-km loop between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Groomer was out the entire time keeping things orderly. Only precaution is to scan the crossings of Red Bud Road before skiing, because the sander has been down the road and cars drag sand/gravel across our path. Generally, if the groomer crosses the road, it is skiable until more than a few cars pass. Highlight of the day was seeing several families making a day of it on the trails...lots of wonderful and happy interactions, smiles from everyone I said "hi" to on the trail.

Excellent conditions. Track was newly set and fast. A little glazing but hard wax worked well. Flat groomed areas were firm but gave a good edge set for turns (as, I guess, would it be for skating). Great night to be in the woods.
