Conditions: 1-2" of new snow in morning with continued snow squalls blowing in from the big lake, conditions a bit slow but otherwise outstanding.
There aren't enough superlatives to describe the conditions here or ABR itself. Great trail system, outstanding grooming, wonderful people. Even with temps in the mid-to-upper 30s on Saturday didn't put a dent on the snow or the track. Definitely worth the drive for the 3 days of marvelous skiing...the UP is back on my rotation after a 27 year hiatus!

Conditions: Excellent. Race ski ready.
Ironwood looks like it does in it's best winter seasons... Piles of plowed snow 30' tall in places. Of course the snow is groomed to perfection for skate and classic at ABR. Main trails all groomed, outer trails not open yet. Many smiling faces on the trails.

Conditions: Excellent. We skied Thanksgiving day and this morning.
They have midwinter conditions at ABR. Loads and loads of snow and more coming as we skied. Beautiful tracks and a perfect skate deck. One wanted to be in better shape with all these fabulous trails stretched out ahead.

Conditions: Winter Wonderland.
Fantastic, albiet slightly cold and slow skiing at ABR today. Today I was very thankful for all of the lake effect snow, the grooming crew at ABR, the fact that they were open on the holiday, and all of the enthusiastic other skiers I met on the trail. I exchanged many excited smiles and shouts of encouragement with other skiers as we enjoyed the day.

Conditions: Beautiful -- 12 inches of fresh snow; the groomers did a great job getting the trails ready for a great day of skiing!
It was a fine day of classic skiing: 2 hours in the morning; 1.5 hours in the afternoon. It's worth the drive to visit ABR -- its time to get out there and ski! Skating will be superb tomorrow!

Grooming

We are back to winter conditions. The base that softened slightly on Sunday is now frozen again and we will continue normal daily grooming. 6 inches of snow so far today! We are presently grooming and skiing 38km and will be ready to ski 70 km soon.

Conditions: Excellent/Mid-winter conditions in mid November.
Did about 10k of striding today right after the grooms had finished up. Trails are nice and firm despite all the recent snowfall with deep striding tracks. A few thin layers of Green did the trick for kick. Gliding was fair with the new snow and cold temps. I've lived here all my life and have never seen so much snow in November!

Conditions: Excellent even after 15.2" of snow over night.
This was our 3rd day of skiing at ABR, overnight they received 15.2" of lake effect snow so we didn't know if anything would even be groomed when we arrived at 9 a.m. The 15" didn't seem to phase them at all, the parking lot was totally plowed and all the classic trails were packed and tracked when we arrived. River Trail was also done with the Piston Bully for skating. We classic skiied the Sunset,Jack Pine,White PIne and Hemlock Trail and all of them were in beautiful shape. Trees were draped in a blanket of snow so super pretty. The groomers were busy all day working on the trails and more snow is expected Wednesday.

Conditions: Beautiful with lake effect snow falling making skiing slow today.
It was about 9 am when we started skiing this morning. Sun was out and some snow had fallen overnight. Very pretty but slower skiing today than yesterday. By 2 pm the snow really started coming down, my tracks were filled in when I headed back from the white pine trail. The snow on the trees make it a winter wonderland. Head to ABR if you can.
