Perfect conditions... ready for the Bear Chase. The skate deck was firm with a dusting of fresh snow, following maybe 6-8" of fresh the previous day. Tracks are solid. Lovely day as the sun came out later in the afternoon. Racers should have perfect conditions on Saturday.

What a difference a day makes! After a 10-day drought, the lake effect snow machine woke up and delivered about 8 inches of fresh powder. Magic Carpet Ride conditions today, with the snow continuing to fall and a couple inches of powder on top of the freshly groomed base. Race grooming is in progress, so intersections have signs and arrows and may be groomed a bit differently than usual.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were dragged this morning, but expect to find some debris brought down by yesterday's winds. Minimal work is being done to preserve the snow pack for the Great Bear Chase race this weekend. Tracks and skates are still very firm and fast conditions generally prevail throughout the system. Grooming completed at 10:00 am.

Skating was wonderful today. Firm and consistent base, medium-fast. Swedetown has a 2-foot base with 3 feet of snow in the woods. Temps have topped out in the low-to-mid 30s every day, and down to upper teens overnight. Only 8 days til the Bear Chase!
