The recent fresh snow has been rolled. Early season conditions progressing towards mid winter. Fresh snow was a little slow, but was still enjoyable.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Very good snow cover and was snowing steadily all afternoon. Three inches of dry fluffy new snow made for a harder time climbing but all downhills were easier to manage. Trails need grooming.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Arrived late morning and found freshly groomed trails. Skied the Powderhorn and Cliff trail (some of the other trails were not groomed). Nicely groomed skate deck, classic tracks looked good, a little soft and undulating but overall very good early season conditions.

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Conditions are good, and continue to get better with regular grooming. The best conditions with firm skate deck and classic track can be found from the chalet around the 3-sisters cut-off loop via cliff trail. Cliff Hanger, and the rest of Powderhorn loop, have been rolled and remain soft. Wolverine loop toward the hospital has only a snowshoe path, and the rest of the loop is closed until Dec 1. There are a few areas where moisture can be seen coming through the base, and one small section of classic track that is wet but easily avoided. Early season ground effects will test your balance in some areas. Classic tracks were a surprise to find, and skied very well.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Poor skating conditions. Packed portion of trails were not wide enough to allow any side to side push off. This made climbing frustrating. Ski tips get stuck too frequently. Did another lap with classic skis. This was much more enjoyable but there were no tracks set. A few wet/icy patches that were easy to get around. Trail needs more grooming and needs to firm up.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
As of 9 pm we have about 20 inches on the ground. It's been snowing around 3 inches an hour for the last 7 hours. With the tracks still off the machines, it will be groom your own trail tomorrow. Please remember that the closed section of the Wolverine Loop (behind the hospital) does not open until Dec 1st each year. The signs designating this section might be buried by snow, but we must respect those who generously allow the trail to cross their land. Powderhorn loop, Cliff Hanger, Cliff Trail, and connectors should be a blast to ski and a heck of a workout for that first skier. Set some good tracks!
