Notes

Small park near the end of the Gateway Trail. There is beautiful scenery with trails winding through pine forest, and near small lakes and picturesque farms. The course is quiet, sheltered, and has a lot of fun roling hills. Most of the terrain is intermediate in difficulty.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Ski trails on the north side of Pine Point Park were groomed and track was reset. Groomers were unable to groom the trails on the south side because of the rising temperatures.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I took the classic rock skis in order to keep it slow on this quiet trail. The trail is also groomed for skate style after a well done widening job. Track begins after leaving the trail head. I saw enough spots that warranted B skis at best. The deck is generally flat with a few low spots filling in with each grooming run. Track was good everwhere I skied on the west side only. I did not ski every segment. The trails I saw had gentle hills and rollers that were easy for an experienced skier. Some of the blind turns may be a bit challenging for beginners. Regardless of your skill level, go slow and enjoy this beautifull trail.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
It was too nice out to not go ski a second time on my way home. This was my first trip to Pine Point in several years. The skating looks pretty nice, but I was actually classic skiing for a change. My only complaint was that the track wasn't set everywhere. Odd coming from a guy who rarely skied there in the past because it was classic only. Where there was track it was great. Where it was a skate deck only, it was really good.

Groomers are out and trails are being packed and tracked. He has completed trails North of the Gateway Trail, and will groom trails South of the Gateway Trail this afternoon. The snow is very soft.

I skied all the trails west of Norell (parking lot side) from noon until 1:15 pm. It is in great shape for skating. The trail is bare in a few spots, but you can go around those spots. The classic track is set only in the prairie. The snow seems shallow for setting a classic track. It is one of the best skis I have had around this area in years. Thank you groomers, you did a great job.

Excellent trail conditions!! While skiing you see the beautiful snow on the pines while you're skiing along long stretches of beautiful, flat, groomed trails. I would highly recommend this trail for casual skiing and fast skiing. No classic tracks set yet.

Skate and classic at Pine Point. As of this year skating is officially allowed at Pine Point. The west side trails have been widened for a skate lane and classic. No classic set yet. Firm packed lanes with dirt and small ruts and bumps but skiable with rock skis. A fairly decent ski. The east side (multi-use/Fat Bike) trails had more snow and skating was better. Firm enough to fat bike as well. The east side of Norel are the new fat bike trails. The woodland trails on the east side had lots of debris and would be sketchy for anything but fat bikes.

Beautiful grooming at Pine Point Park in Stillwater. Heard they groomed these trails but had never seen them freshly rolled. Just happened to be driving by and saw sections that looked like they'd been recently rolled, so hopped on! Was not disappointed! There are obviously some sections in the thick, wooded areas that are peppered with pine cones, twigs, or where the trail is at a deep slant and hard to roll, etc. But can easily side step that stuff.
I parked at the beginning of the trail (off Norell) walked across Norell Ave. to hit the small loop to the East/North (?) of the parking lot (all groomed for skate, no classic) around the lake, and then walked back over to hit the other loops along the main trail (the main bike trail not groomed) but all the outside loops are beautiful corduroy.
Although the distance back on these trails isn't that great (maybe 30-45 min. tops if you're skating all the loops) but the scenery is incredible. Very wooded and quiet, as it's kind of on the "outskirts" of town if you pick up the trail at that entrance. Nice job, groomers! (There were some sections where people had clearly been traipsing through with dogs, which we've done too) but right down the middle of the beautiful skate deck?!?! I don't get that. Or maybe they think they're rolled for walkers:)) Either way, minor complaint. Still incredible skiing and the footprints you could skate right over without issue. Enjoy!

All trails at Pine Point packed today. No track set. Pretty good coverage, some icy spots, snow thin in the pines.
