Trail Detail
Notes
Small park near the end of the Gateway Trail. There is beautiful scenery with trails winding through pine forest, and near small lakes and picturesque farms. The course is quiet, sheltered, and has a lot of fun roling hills. Most of the terrain is intermediate in difficulty.Trail Reports

Squeezed in a lunch time ski. Used my skin skis. Skate deck was being combed as I skied, so it is fresh and a bit soft. The classic tracks have not been reset since I last skied there Saturday. For the most part they are still present and solid. However, in several places, till from the skate deck grooming has filled the left classic track. Tracks have also accumulated more liter including some spruce cones and bark. Thus striding in some areas has become more difficult. Nonetheless, great place to ski on such a cold day with a sharp breeze being almost entirely wooded.

Started about 12:30. Even in exposed areas the track was serviceable, deep and solid everywhere else. Really nice that the groomer pulled the track up most of the climbs for striding. Skate deck looked good. Little in the way of pine and spruce needles, but a fair bit of oak leaves and box elder seed. Just get back on the heels and it's mostly good. Guru green for the first hour, mostly gone the second!

Looks like groomers were there this morning. Perfect skate conditions and surprisingly fast. Watch out for some sticks and leaves but overall, very nice! Kudos to Washington County Parks! Well done!

I stopped at Pine Point for some nice classic skiing. Tracks were good, only issue was some spots with seeds that sometimes stopped your momentum. Skate deck looked good. Wider trails than I remember from years back.

Generally very good skate ski conditions. A few occasional small icy patches, and a few spots with minor branch debris on the trail, but groomed and in very good condition overall. Worth noting is that I'd estimate classic tracks had only been set for maybe about a third of the trails.

Coverage was good and there was minimal debris on the trails except for the darkest corner of the pines. There was no classic track on the east side of the Gateway Trail; classic track of variable quality has been set on the west side trails. There are some very shallow skier-made tracks in some areas that I found serviceable enough to use. The steeper descents were soft and forgiving with no icy spots. The skate deck looked to be in excellent condition. I will go back for that tomorrow.

Amazing conditions with fresh grooming... except virtually no classic tracks set. Only a couple of 100+ foot sections groomed for classic as of 11 AM so I'm kind of puzzled if they were done grooming or what? Somehow, even with all the snow it is a little thin under the white pines, but fabulously nice out there.
