Just returned the trails and was pleasantly surprised. As said earlier, it's not for everyone but if you have to ski... Jeff rolled them earlier in the week and it really helped. Bring the crappiest pair of skis you own, classic is better than skating due to rocks.

For those of you who just have to ski and don't mind ice, sticks, rocks and leaves, there is limited, not for the faint of heart, skiing at Greenbush. The little bit of snow we received last week has been rolled. I stayed on the sections of Brown, Purple and Green that tend to hold up and enjoyed myself. With winter now being impacted by global warming, as we have been experiencing the last couple of seasons, we need to all be diligent in protecting the base on our trails especially on days when temps warm well above freezing. Each of us needs to kindly (or forcefully if you prefer) communicate with folks we see hiking and fat-biking on the ski trails, which leaves ruts and makes it difficult for us to maintain the base. Hopefully, we receive more snow than expected over the next couple of days and Greenbush can once again become the Nordic Heaven we love.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
NKMN Youth Ski Team practiced tonight at Greenbush. Some of our better skiers and a coach skied the Brown Trail to determine how skiable it is. It is skiable but rock skis are highly recommended until more snow is received. The team worked mostly on technique and fast footwork on the grassy areas around the shelter and on the sledding hill where good skis can be used.

[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails were apparently rolled before the most recent snowfall but the base is still very soft and shallow and easy to hit sticks and debris from the surface.

Greenbush received a little less snow than Sheboygan, around 4" on top of a thin crust. The lighted Brown trail has been rolled. The NKMN ski team practiced on skate skis in the evening, but we were breaking through too much to risk attempting the trail with newer skiers and good equipment. Ended up just doing drills around the open area near the shelter. A few other skiers were out with rock skis making some laps.
