Trail Reports

2014-2015 season
Reports 11 to 20 of 32    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Wednesday, February 11, 2015
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: A little fluff Tuesday night covered a lot of the leaves, but they keep on dropping. Good cover. Cold wind.
All loops are definitely skiable (and so is the bisecting snowmobile trail).

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Greenbush showing wear and tear. Getting debris and ice in classic track, but still skiable. Downhills becoming icy. Couple of inches would help.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Best conditions that I have seen this year.
I skied the purple, green and the red trails Saturday morning. They all had very good snow cover with no icy spots. The first part of the green trail was super fast. Lots of skiers out there.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: About a 2" hard packed base with many thinner areas and dirty spots. Some hidden small rocks/stones in dirty spots. Pine cones an issue as well.
Do not bring your good/race skis to Greenbush. B skis are better option right now. Trail system needs more snow as the system is just fine in some areas, but showing great wear in many others. The back green is very dirty.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Nice conditions with a new 2 inches of snow that had not yet been groomed this morning. The base is good, and the new snow was very skiable with no debris or ice. I only skated the purple-green-purple trail, but the classic tracks looked good and well set all the way around.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Very nice, rather fast - groomed for skate and track set, some minor debris leaves and twigs and a few thin spots. Keep your eyes open and you will love it.
Used the Red and Brown trails today for a great classic ski. Nice temps in the low 20s with no wind. Considering we haven't had much for snow, the conditions were awesome. As always, thank you groomers!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
We finally have something worth reporting at Greenbush. 5-6" were groomed and tracked on Monday afternoon and trails set up nicely with the cold temps last night. I strided all of the loops this morning and except for a few spots the classic track was covered and firm. Hopefully we will pick up a few more inches over the next few days, which will put us in great shape for awhile. With the fresh snow and sun out this morning, Greenbush skied darn pretty.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good to great, recently groomed.
Finally snow in the southern half of Wisconsin. Stayed on the purple and brown loops Monday night. Trail was rolled and the cold firmed it up a little. Still some soft spots scattered, but cover was really good overall. On the back side of the purple, just beyond the 3 mile mark were a few thin spots, but they're easily avoidable. Hopefully more snow is on the way!

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Icy - need more snow.
Practice with the youth ski team on Tuesday evening. They worked on classic on the the lighted hills just behind the shelter, I took a few laps on the lighted loop. There was icy snow cover, and it wasn't impossible to skate, but it was on its last legs without a refresh of snow. Base is set up firm but there was some tricky spots on the downhills without being able to get a good edge for setting a solid turn. Pray for snow!
