Epic. This remote trail groomed for classic only kicked our ass. Steep descents with sharp turns will challenge anyone. USFS made some upgrades and added two loops to a what was developed as a one way ski trail back in the 1970s. Worth seeking out next time you are at ABR. About 20 minutes east of Ironwood on Wis Hwy 77.

It appears that Iron County has invested a lot in this trail during the off-season. Bridges have been built, wet areas detoured, and new loops added. Grooming appears to be more frequent as well. We started at the Weber Lake Trailhead, and the trail was hit hard by snowshoers for the first km, but then turned into nice skiing in a track covered with 2-3 inches of snow. Snow is deep, and no evidence of the ground is seen. A few sticks poke through the groomed surface here and there. With continued grooming, this trail should be a great ski for the rest of the season.
