Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Well here comes the warm mother nature again, our trails are taking a beating again for about the fourth time this winter. The trails off the man made are becoming pretty thin. The man-made has full depth and full width. There will be no grooming by the DNR or with the Pisten Bully until we get temperatures below 32°. Please be patient with us groomers as we are not controlling the weather. I normally say happy skiing, but now I'm saying good luck out there!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Good conditions for skate and stride on the manmade snow loops this morning. Soft and slushy surface on a generally firm base. A fair amount of tree debris in the wooded areas - flick a stick if you get a chance. Downhills are not real fast but also not sticky. Manmade loops were last groomed on Wednesday, so tracks are getting pretty soft.

Thanks to the groomer report this early morning I found the ski conditions surprisingly OK despite the 38F degrees and light drizzle. The skate deck including magic carpet had good edging and not icy. I only did the man-made sections with the natural snow on top.

I skate skied this morning at about 9 o'clock. The snow was still pretty firm and fast. The big uphills were a little dirty and wearing thin. Downhill was fast but controllable. Much better than I expected. Get out as soon as you can.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The Piston Bully was out at night grooming the man made trails. The man made loop should be in good shape. We tilled the skate deck and reset the classic track. Both are in great shape. It was too warm and too soft to groom anything off the man made loop. There is plenty of snow off the man made loop and only a handful of thinning areas so when the temps drop we should be able to get back out there.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Soft, sticky, wet, slow snow for skate and stride when I started this afternoon. Tracks appeared to improve as they were skied-in. Skate also seemed to improve while I was there, as the new snow dried out and set up. Areas on the Woods Loop have occasional piles of snow that have fallen off the trees and icy spots from water dripping off the trees. Downhills were generally very slow, except for the icy spots.

Variable conditions today. Icy in the morning, due to overnight sleet. Softening enough by mid-afternoon to provide for a firm but pleasant skate surface. Pisten Bully grooming by Beattle of the Field Loop in the late afternoon provided excellent conditions for the Peak Nordic kids program tonight. Bit of debris on the trail in the wooded areas.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
I heard reports of an icy ski trail today so I took the PB out and groomed and reset tracks on the lower part of our man made trail system. I also groomed Marks Park and Beatles loop for the children that are going to come out here tonight and enjoy it. I heard two weeks ago on a Monday night there were 130 children from the age of five through fifth grade. Let's keep on keeping on with the new generation. Happy skiing!

Very icy conditions for skating. Most were skiing classic as some switched to classic due to skating. After having difficulty at the beginning I was able to adjust to ski 5 miles. Next time I will check the report by the groomer before I drive up from Burlington.

Thanks to groomers for keeping everything in good shape with so many skiers out. Classic tracks are quite icy this morning and have some accumulation of leaves and twigs. We skied on Saturday and conditions were perfect. Today found myself thinking that the tracks could use a reset.
