Conditions: Uneven dog park conditions.
Skated today around noon. Seems like skate deck was rolled Wednesday morning before the snow stopped, a couple inches of loose snow on top of soft deck. It's been skated in some, very lumpy. Many bare spots from blowing and sun. And lots of offleash dogs, had several run-ins with playful but unruly dogs and masters.

Conditions: Skiable, "excellent" conditions...considering the weather. Rock skis advised. Poor, icy classic tracks, decent skate deck. Some rutted spots, some gravel.
I enjoyed 3 laps at 8am, half a lap behind the groomer, and conditions improved each lap. Only so much can be done after a 24 hour thaw of a thin base, but just enough scraping at just the right time of day resurrected the skate deck without pulling up turf, and gave this great little neighborhood trail the best chance to survive the weekend. Thank you to the mpls parks groomers.

Conditions: Freshly Groomed!
The trail was freshly groomed and tracks were set. There are many thin areas and dirt and grass showing through. Snow coverage isn't great but conditions are skiable.

Conditions: Good skate deck, classic thin!
Hiawatha was groomed today and Classic tracks were laid. The tracks are thin in some areas. The skate deck is in good shape with a little grass showing through in a few areas.

Conditions: Poor, though skiable.
Hiawatha has not been groomed since the most recent snowfall. I was skating and needed to plow through a couple inches of snow over a firm base. Thin and bumpy for the most part; just a few spots with dirt or grass showing (easily avoidable - no danger to good skis). Skied-in tracks only (which I used last weekend to good effect), but they are getting filled in by the wind.
