Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The Hiawatha grooming team was out 3 times today, and the course is rolled. The wind is blowing hard so there will be drifted areas in the morning. It's setting up nicely for grooming tomorrow and hopefully classic tracks. We have a lesson area down the hill to the left. Dog walkers, hikers, bikers, skijorers and snowshoers have their very own groomed trail on the inside loop!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The ski loop and non-ski loop were rolled and packed over the noon hour today after approximately 4 inches of great new fluffy stuff. Snow continues to fall and wind continues to blow. The base is really solid, no bare spots at all.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the 4k loop this morning about 10 am, my first time at Hiawatha this year. Thanks to Mike for rolling the trails. Very nice, but the edges were cutting through to grass and ice sometimes, hope this is just the base we needed and that more snow is on the way. Have really missed being able to pop over to Hiawatha and practice in the wide open spaces.

Looks great! Just finished rolling the snow to make sure it doesn't blow away. Nice wide ski trails, and nice walking trail. 1k, 2k, and 4k loops are rolled out. There are no classic tracks at the moment, but hope to get them out in the next day or so. The only problem area is the steep hill at the very end of the loop, heading back up to the parking lot. That hill is a bit icy, be mindful.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All the trails are open, but about 20% of the 4k loop has exposed grass, sand or gravel. There were no extended sections of open ground, but a little dodging and weaving should get you through with minimal issues. The open ground is concentrated in the first third or so of the loop; the back two-thirds is nearly all snow covered.

[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skied around sunset today. Brought my B skis but should have brought my rock skis. With the blowing snow early in the week some areas were deep and then some areas were quite windblown with grass obviously showing through. As the last trail report mentioned, there is one rocky section where the trail crosses the golf cart path. Otherwise I think everything else was tree debris although it mimicked rocks. There were also numerous "shelfs" going on and off the drifts. Overall worth a ski if you don't mind rock ski conditions.

Thanks to the groomers for going out right away this morning. Unfortunately, quite a bit of blowing and drifting has happened during the day and there are now many places where the snow is very thin, and there is exposed gravel in the usual place where the trail crosses a cart path. It was also tough going through loose snow on the skate skis. I would definitely not use your good skis - I thought I could manage and am regretting it now.

How many times can I say "Finally"? Finally some snow! Thanks groomers. The parking lot was being plowed too. I threw a half-dozen sticks out of the trail. The rolled trail was quickly being blown over, but still, what a pleasure.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails look great! Nice fresh snow overnight, maybe 4-6 inches in most areas. At 6am this morning ski trails and walking trail were rolled out, so ready for action. 4k loop, and cutoffs for 2k loop and 1k loop are all rolled out. There are no classic tracks down at the moment -- hope to get those put down before Tuesday. Please note signage at the trailhead: Ski on the right hand trail, and all others (walkers, show-shoers, bikers, dogs) on the left hand trail.

At the moment snow is thin, but it is coming fast. Grooming team will be out first thing Monday morning to lay down a path.
