Thanks to great grooming and lots of fresh snow, the trails were great today! Thanks groomers! Used B skis but didn't need to -- you can hop out of the tracks for the two small grassy spots.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed and set new track this morning. Looks good, so get out and ski! You can use your good skis but I noticed a couple of grass spots showing - definitely avoidable. More snow could allow for a really great trail this year. Take advantage of the snow we have!

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The full course was rolled Thursday evening. Good coverage everywhere, but the wind was starting to pick up and cause some drifting.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails rolled and groomed this morning. I set tracks for a while, but stopped because they were bottoming out too much. I'm not sure how the skiing will be, it seemed like the snow wasn't bonded to the underlying ice in places so it might be a challenge. Also a few easily avoided grass patches showing through. Think snow!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Rock skis ]
Skied the golf course this morning to a majestic sunrise. There are plenty of places where grass and other debris is poking through. The trail is somewhat uneven due to blowing snow and drifting. I used rock skis and didn't worry about it. The important thing is that it was quite ski-able! I started at the driving range and didn't go up to the bridge over the railroad tracks -- quite a large section of bare cart path there.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Rolled and set a classic track. Trail held snow from last grooming in most spots, but there are still some windswept areas that are thin and bare. However, there is decent coverage on much of the trail and is actually beautiful in some sections. Be careful on cart paths and the bridge because it is a bit thin. I know it's cold, but enjoy the skiing at Columbia!

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails were surprisingly good for a late night ski. Some drifting snow in the unprotected areas, but overall the rolling the groomers did in the morning made a nice skate deck. The classic tracks were often filled in with drifting snow. A few minor bare spots over some grassy areas (again due to the drifting snow) were easily avoidable. Thanks to the Columbia groomers for getting out there right after the snowfall!

Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
Just in case you were wondering, you have a better chance of playing golf than skiing at Columbia right now. It is bare with frozen patches of ice that more closely resemble an ice rink than a skate deck. Anyone who wants to do a snow dance, feel free.
