Very good conditions throughout (one small hole on Isles to Cedar channel that is easy to ski around.) Thank you groomers. People seemed to be skiing in all directions but that seemed to be working fine.

Cedar and Isles groomed this morning for skate and classic. Skied after grooming and everything was generally in good condition, although some minor drifting was taking place in open areas. The trail on Cedar is pretty firm. Since grooming only resumed yesterday, the channel and Isles are a little softer, but still good.

Isles and Cedar groomed this morning with double classic tracks and skate deck in between. Great snow conditions. Tracks set through Kenilworth channel. Stick to tracks. Thin ice marked. One open hole at entry to channel from Cedar.

Cedar Lake was groomed today. Skate lane is soft. Track was set. One short area on the west side where the trail goes up on land is quite rough due to a plow having trashed the area. Will need some shoveling and more grooming. Still not safe to take a snowmobile through the channel so Isles was not done.

Went out at 9pm for a night ski to find Cedar, Isles, and Bde Maka Ska (Calhoun) still not groomed. Some people set a few classic tracks but overall tough double poling. Channel had good coverage and ice seemed fine by the couple of thin ice signs. Wouldn't go out their until groomed. Snow depth generally 9-12" it seemed on the ice.

This afternoon toward the end of our snow storm I skated down to Brownie and Cedar Lake, and it was a lot of fun despite the 5-6 inches of new fluffy snow slowing me down. The Chain of Lakes is definitely better for classic (back-country) skiing at this point; skating was very difficult with the deep snow. The Cedar Lake "land" trail was in good shape, and lots of folks were out enjoying some back-country skiing on the lakes, with man-made classic tracks everywhere. The 394 connector trail and 394 overpass had tons of snow, so it's easy to connect to the Chain of Lakes from the Wirth South trails (Quaking Bog) to get in a nice long ski on natural snow. Could be pretty spectacular after a few more rounds of grooming!

We skied Lake of the Isles, Ceder and Brownie lakes around noon today. Trail conditions were very variable. Some areas (especially Cedar lake) had good snow cover and grooming. Other areas (Lake of the Isles) were mostly ice with standing water.
