The trails out at Beaver Brook Wildlife Area were groomed Thursday night. The groomer will have to go out again as the trails are soft after the recent snowfall of about 10-12 inches. Bundle up and enjoy the new snow, don't forget to bring Fido as dogs are welcome.

My first error was taking a set of skin skis that are built for far more speed than required on this small classic only trail. I skied the west trail from Cranberry Road to Harrison road, walked the road to the southbound link, and skied out. I skipped the loops around Harrison Lake. The good news was full depth track in most places. The grooming team did the best they could with ultra dry snow. The track is soft sided so be ready to run one ski out of track on occasion. Likewise the herringbone uphill was tougher than "normal" conditions. This is a fun romp on easy intermediate rollers with a few turning downhills. The groomers have it right by lifting the tracksetter in these more demanding downhills. I walked the last downhill to Harrison Road. Wood skis next time. There was a bit of grass and sticks as you take the split going north, but nothing to worry over on good skis. A spring has left a small patch of ice on the southbound track. You can see it coming. My route took 90 minutes. Saw a few people with dogs on this dog friendly trail.

After the Spooner area received 3-4 inches of new snow last night (and it is currently snowing), the Beaver Brook ski trails were tracked for classic skiing. The track is soft in areas but the groomer reports that the skiing is good. Dogs are welcome, bundle up and enjoy the trails.

Trail was in ok shape considering lack of snow so far. Was nice to get out and enjoy some outdoors. Tracks were set and in good shape today. I only was on the west trail so not sure how the east trail is.

Beaverbrook received an additional 4" of snow today. it was groomed tonight on both the East and West sides, tracks were set wherever possible. The East side has had a lot of logging so more snow will make the trail better there, the West side looks surprisingly good.
