Nose Lake tracks were set this afternoon, and should firm up nicely with the cold overnight temperatures. They should hold up well with some cold daytime temperatures predicted for a couple of days.

I skied the west loop only and was happy with the trail conditions, even in the areas under the conifers. The groomers had once again done a great job with what they have to work with. Very abrasive snow, use good binder and be prepared to re-wax.

Nose Lake ski trail has been groomed. Lots of water still in the snow base and snow is still wet and not frozen. Tracks are shallow and will probably glaze over as temps drop. But overall the trail survived the meltdown. Plan to groom late Saturday and chew it up more as it continues to freeze. West loop had deep ruts from skiing when it was soft but managed to get most out. East loop hadn't been skied and looks nicer. Lots of critter tracks on West loop really left holes and pockets. Deer mostly.

Spring skiing in January! Trail was in very good shape. My life long love - hate relationship with purple klister was back to the love side today. In fact, one of the best kicks I've ever experienced. Glide was fantastic too, given the shiny corn snow at dusk. While nearly anaerobic, I seriously envisioned Elite Wave in my future, quite a dream given I've been Wave 4 forever. The groomers may be mad at me, since I feel my speed likely melted the snow as I cruised across it. :) At any rate, get out and enjoy the snow while you can, wherever you happen to be.

Nose Lake was a hub of activity on Sunday and Monday, and the trail was well worn. Because of that it received new classic tracks this evening. The tracks were deep, and with the sub 32 temperatures tonight, they should firm up nicely for tomorrow.

The trail was retracked this morning. The tracks set up fairly deep. Again with the colder morning temps, they should set up nicely.

The groomer's report persuaded us to try this trail for the final ski of our North Woods excursion. The grooming was excellent, with many interesting wildlife tracks. This is a narrow, single-track, classic trail, much like ones I recall from 40 years ago. We did the east loop, which has many gentle curves and hills; I would call it "easy+". We really appreciate the groomers' reports - after all, they are the first to know when a trail has been groomed!

The trail was packed with new track set, and it is ready to go. The new tracks are nice and deep, and with the cold temperatures should hold up nicely for weekend use.

Really good conditions. Some pine needles in a few areas, but nothing to be concerned about. The groomers have done a great job as usual.

The trail tracked very nicely this morning. The new tracks are deeper, with little leafy, woody debris. There are intermittent stretches especially under the conifers were the track has got some litter.
