2017-2018 season

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The southern half of the Upper Arb is surprisingly great! There is one spot on the field behind the Rec Center that you might want to walk A skis around, but otherwise it's all good.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the Lower Arb starting at the West Gym parking lot. Was just rolled. Skier-set classic tracks are pretty good still. Saw maybe 1 rock the whole time, otherwise great snow depth and nice grooming. Perfect!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Really nice night out there today. The trails were groomed last Friday, and that set up pretty well (although I hit a lot of rocks then), today there was probably another 3+ inches on top of that base, and I hit far fewer rocks. Should set up into a really nice base once that is groomed in.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied approximately five miles in the Lower Arb this afternoon. Trails have been rolled, but still too little snow for classical tracks to have been set. Quite a few footprints from runners/walkers and base is thin, but overall coverage is good and no bare patches where I skied. Just a few leaves and branches here and there.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails are rolled and skiable, mostly o.k., but there are short sections with gravel coming through. I was careful in those spots and did not get any scratches on my skis, but I would not use my good skis.

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skied most of the Lower Arb. A lot of the trails have just enough snow to ski, either in the raised middle of the path, or to the outside, but then I'd be going downhill and it would be rock city. I picked up a fair number of new scratches. But: if you stay only on the trail along the river, you should be fine.
