Notes

This trail is very hilly, rolling and scenic. It winds around five different lakes, through stands of maple, aspen and balsam. There are a couple fairly steep hills requiring intermediate skiing skills. A shelter with a fire ring is located on the trail.

Grooming
Leveled and tracked all loops this morning. Very good conditions, track firming up nicely with the cold temps.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Picture perfect!
The CXC Junior Camp with coach Keller leading (sometimes following) were first up to bat with new grooming at a 10:00 start. While soft, everything was gorgeous, with snow clinging to the trees and the lake openings in full winter beauty. If you want a twisty turny "good 'ol fashioned ski trail", this is the one to try. You'll get your classic on with more transitions than you'll ever find elsewhere in the MW. One of my favorites, and underutilized with fine West Yellowstone grooming.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent conditions on these challenging trails.
It was a leisurely tour around the red loop first followed by a spirited tour around the green loop. The fresh snow was beautiful and trails were well groomed after the fresh snow. This is one of my all time favorite trails.

Grooming
Conditions: Good conditions, 5-6 inches new snow over 10 inch base.
The woods are very scenic right now with snow stuck to everything out there. Many trees down so may be a few sticks but worth trying.

Grooming
Conditions: Mostly good with a few sections fair.
Challenging conditions as a week of 34 degrees and mist and fog plus 1-2 inches very wet snow for three of four days made tracking tricky. Temperatures dropping within 24 hours so should firm up and be an awesome ski with snow plastering the woods and plenty of animal tracks to observe.

Grooming Scheduling
The warmer weather we have had over the last few days has greatly impacted the snow base on the trails. To prevent damage to our equipment we will be suspending grooming until conditions improve. New reports will be sent out as grooming occurs.

Grooming
Conditions: Good condition, about 8-10 inches of snow on the ground in the woods. Warmer weather predicted so next few days should be prime.
Not much new snow in last week and still hit no ground while out tracking. Older snow means plenty of animal tracks. I saw deer otter beaver, fox, grouse, coyote and Fisher tracks while grooming today.

Grooming
Conditions: 12 inches of snow on the ground and good conditions. Did not pull any ground and snowing 1-2 inches while grooming.
Recent snows and freeze and thaws have formed a good base, 18 degrees when I left and track was firming up nicely.
