Trail Detail
Notes
This trail is very hilly, rolling and scenic. It winds around five different lakes, through stands of maple, aspen and balsam. There are a couple fairly steep hills requiring intermediate skiing skills. A shelter with a fire ring is located on the trail.Trail Reports

Cut ice three times around then set track. Mostly full formed track. Wind storm brought sticks, branches, leaves and rain made one half inch ice on top of 9 inches of snow. Ice was cut off the center of the trail but still exists on the side or shoulder of the trail. A dusting or two of snow should cover the debris and made for a good ski. Falling could be an issue as not a lot of cushion so definitely ski the trails within your skill level.

Fair to good conditions are present at the Escanaba trail. Thin spots under the pines. fresh snow was pressed onto existing tracks and set up well. Conditions close to good but need more snow to cushion the fall. Bring some birdseed if you have room in your pack.

Still thin under conifer cover. Only a couple thin areas and snowing and blowing now so should be covered. Still follows woods floor terrain so will take a few more snows to smooth and fill. I would rate it a 7 out of 10 and the scenic trail will make up for not being at prime conditions yet. 10.5 inches of fluffy snow on undisturbed picnic table by the Escanaba Research Station.
