Trail Reports

2022-2023 season
Reports 41 to 50 of 60    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Best conditions on trail in 2+ years. Awesome grooming, with the only knocks being a couple pinch points for skaters to avoid the classic track and oak leaves (most of the trees look empty, so hopefully we're clear for the remainder of the season). The sun was frying the top layer, expect speedy transformed snow tomorrow.

All segments in very good condition. Classic tracks throughout with just a few washouts. Skate deck looked good. Groomers have done a great job maintaining this whole trail system.

Skate deck was level with good coverage throughout. Trail is well marked with new signs. Easy to get an edge with the warmer weather. Classic tracks were present in about 2/3 of trail, washed out in corners. Scattered leaves and sticks in the wooded areas. Really enjoyable place to ski, thanks to the groomers!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The wind is done howling so all trails are freshly groomed and tracks set. It should be a good day for a ski.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Entire trail is groomed. No tracks set as with the whipping wind they would have been filled in before I got back to the start. My advice is to avoid the upper field because of the wind. The woods should be a good wind break.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
We took a quick classic ski this afternoon at the Irondale trails and tucked right into the wooded section to avoid the wind. The fresh 1-2" had not been rolled yet, but several folks have skied in tracks throughout, and it was a really nice outing in spite of the cold. We did not venture up onto the athletic field given some pretty significant drifts over the climb leading to that segment. Coverage was excellent, but conditions were slow, as you might expect. This is a great gem for cold, windy days.

Too much snow - yay! - for the YTS groomer. So all trails only rolled at this time. Plan is to groom and set tracks on Saturday, hopefully after the wind dies down a bit.

Groomer is back from helping with High School Ski Camp so all trails are groomed and tracked as of this morning. Perhaps a bit soft but should firm up well with cold temps.

With the wet and warm conditions, we are asking everyone to please not ski the trail until the temps are below freezing! Thanks!
