Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Snow levels are great and classic tracks are good to excellent with 100% coverage from what I could tell. Skate trails are pretty narrow in places but skiable.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed the Hiihto on Sunday between the Loppet and that big event downtown. Trails are soft and a bit lumpy but skate deck is fully covered and classic tracks set thru most of the trail. Trails are in the best shape of the year. Go ski.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Hiihto was groomed Sunday afternoon and track set for the first time on Monday morning. We survived the melt down in good shape only one re-route necessary. The skate deck is a bit lumpy from the broken crust but certainly skiable and the classic tracks are shallow in some places. If you are looking for a place to ski while Hyland is filled with high school races give the Hiihto a try. We will re-groom Tuesday.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Hornet Hiihto was rolled Sunday night and should firm up well with the cold weather. There are a couple of spots to be careful: one on Anne's trail near Nine Mile Creek where the recent creek repair did substantial damage to the trail and one on the downhill from Creek Valley School where sledders built a jump. No classic track yet but hopefully this week. The snow making loop is in great shape and the new snow helped the rest of the trails. Be cautious but enjoy.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
You can use better skis on our man-made snow, it is pretty deep, but don't venture off the made snow with them. We have about a 1km made snow loop with two good hills. Natural snow trails are not very ski-able. All groomed for skate only.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
We finished making snow today. Half of it has been groomed, but the other half needs to sit for 24 hours before it can be groomed. Feel free to ski up and down on the groomed part of the trail. Please wait for us to groom the other half. We have just about 1km of made snow that includes 200 meter flat sections on the top and bottom of the water tower hill, otherwise it is a nice climb and fun downhill. Skate only for now. The natural snow trails are not great, but the nine mile creek trail boardwalk has several km of great snow that is very fun to ski in addition to our made snow trails. Be prepared to take your skis off about 4 times if you want to ski all the way to Fred Richards golf course.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
We are making snow, but its not ready to ski on yet. Natural snow trails have been groomed, but its all showing grass, so ski at your own risk.
