2017-2018 season

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Regroomed the Hiihto this morning. Classic tracks reset nicely although the pole plant is still pretty soft. Classic track is also soft but where it had been skied on it was great. Packed powder in April! Sun is warm so it may not last long, take a long lunch and get some k's in. The Twin skin worked well, good grip on the up hills even in soft snow. Thanks to everyone who has skied the Hiihto this week.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Got to the Hiihto about 3 hours after Paul finished grooming. Tracks in the open were already snow covered but easy to follow skiing by feel. Half a dozen other skiers out enjoying the April gift what a treat. We will regroom the classic tracks Monday morning. Get out and enjoy while it lasts!

Paul Gage groomed our entire ski trail system at Creek Valley and Edina High School. Thank's Paul! All trails are open. Classic is double tracked.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Best classic conditions of the season. A bit soft for skating. All trails packed and tracked but the snow is still coming down so tracks might be blown in soon. Best place to park is at the skating rink lot near Creek Valley Elementary.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Rock skis ]
Lots of fun before the sun started softening up the snow. Before that top was crusty and fast. Unfortunately The new bike trail and football field really messed up the trails making it challenging to make a long loop with a couple hills like it used to be.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Snow levels are great and classic tracks are good to excellent with 100% coverage from what I could tell. Skate trails are pretty narrow in places but skiable.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed the Hiihto on Sunday between the Loppet and that big event downtown. Trails are soft and a bit lumpy but skate deck is fully covered and classic tracks set thru most of the trail. Trails are in the best shape of the year. Go ski.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Hiihto was groomed Sunday afternoon and track set for the first time on Monday morning. We survived the melt down in good shape only one re-route necessary. The skate deck is a bit lumpy from the broken crust but certainly skiable and the classic tracks are shallow in some places. If you are looking for a place to ski while Hyland is filled with high school races give the Hiihto a try. We will re-groom Tuesday.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Hornet Hiihto was rolled Sunday night and should firm up well with the cold weather. There are a couple of spots to be careful: one on Anne's trail near Nine Mile Creek where the recent creek repair did substantial damage to the trail and one on the downhill from Creek Valley School where sledders built a jump. No classic track yet but hopefully this week. The snow making loop is in great shape and the new snow helped the rest of the trails. Be cautious but enjoy.
