The Star Loop survived the weekend. The Willow Loop uphill looked dirty so I stuck to the Star Loop as did most others. Thanks Hyland and the grooming crew for a nice season.

Star Loop was groomed and in fantastic shape this morning - but the remainder of the trails appear un-groomed. So this would appear to be my season ender. Many thanks to the incredible efforts all season to the Three Rivers Hyland crew- way to salvage a tricky winter!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Skied about 2-4 p.m. Trail included extremely icy downhills in places, nice and soft corn snow in places, water running in the icy classic track in places. Skiing for die-hards only! Saw MN Youth Ski League skiers out for their last day of the season! From other trail reports, it sounds like the conditions were a lot better earlier in the day.

When starting there was a little bit of an icy crust (looked like they groomed last night). Later, of course, it got soupy and there was moderate leaf and twig debris in places. However, remarkably, the entire man made loop (didn't do double black) still has coverage. Looks like it might hang in there for a while yet. It's hard work skating given the slush.

Defying the laws of thermodynamics, groomers have made yet another amazing experience. <10% slush. No bare spots. Some leaves and debris in a few areas. Getting softer by mid morning. Overall fair to good.

Very surprised at how good the trails were after having negative glide at Elm Creek yesterday afternoon. Glad I made the drive. Couple of icy spots on south facing hills and I'm sure it will deteriorate somewhat throughout the day but overall great.

At 10:15 am start, it was 40 something and sun-exposed portion of trail that had been groomed overnight was getting soft and somewhat rutted. It was obviously slow but faster in the shaded portions of the trail. It was not so slow that the Boulder downhill had any problem with sudden deacceleration but I am sure that would have been the case later in the day.

Very nice at 9am. Getting slow by 10am. Used swix yellow with structure. Still a good, cold firm base with nightly grooming. Boulder ridge was fine.

Overall the course remains in very good shape for skate. It's a bit loose, dirty and leafy in some areas which should be expected. It looked like new classic tracks were recently cut.

Amazing conditions. 36 hrs of cold temps then late morning thawing plus expert grooming provided all the skiers out today (not many) with a wonderful experience. Thank you groomers and Hyland staff!!
