Wow was Hyland busy tonight - but not so bad that it was crowded on the trail. New snow on the manufactured was great for skiing on. Fun fast snow at Hyland. Boulder wasn't all mush. Hoping for more snow so the natural trails can be opened.

Skiing was great today, with some fresh snow falling and the cold temps it felt almost like real winter. Small amount of powder over the groomed deck still provided good pacing and hills were in good shape compared to a week ago. Thanks again to the crew for doing an awesome job grooming!

Few things go better together than a January high pressure system and classic skiing. Lots of folks striding in the afternoon warmth. The tracks were hard and fast, but not icy. I probably could have ridden the tracks from Boulder Ridge, but I didn't have the guts.

Very good. Probably 8-9 degrees but with no wind. Light snow during 1st lap. Got in a couple of laps in before shutdown for Rennet. Despite freshly-waxed skis (with Fast Wax Teal LF) skating was slow relative to last weekend's pace. Thankfully without the wind my heavier socks and gloves, both with liners, windbreaker and balaclava were just enough to keep me warm. I don't envy spectators for Saturday's races.

Got in a quick skate ski on Star Loop and Willow Creek right before the races started at 5:30 pm. Only the man-made snow trails are open right now. My skis were still waxed for the warm weather, but the snow was fast and hard. Should be good hard snow for the race tonight. Classic tracks look good - there's two sets of tracks for the race right now.
