Trail Detail
Notes
A couple of good loops, although it seems to get more wind-blown than other metro trails. New in 2013, 5K snowmaking loop.Trail Reports

The course was nice and crisp at 6:20. It was a little crusty, but did not feel icy. There were already a number of people out when we got there. The uphills were in pretty good shape, with only a little sugar and no exposed ice/sheer crust. The downhills were fast, but not shaved out yet. After a few laps, things started to loosen up a lot, and more sugar appeared. The uphills got more exposed ice/crust as well. It never got slushy since the sky was clouded over. By the time we finished around 9:45 I was glad to be getting off the course. It was still skiable, but the effects of the thaws and refreezes were evident. Overall, a fantastic ski!

The snow making loop was in great shape despite 45 degree temp. I hesitated coming out because I anticipated slush but found a very firm skate deck. No deep sugar on all the uphills! The only shortcoming was a very hard pack at the bottom of the Boulder Ridge. It was my fastest skate of season. I used FastWax Yellow HF.

Skied the only snow available on the man made loops. Condition of the snow was very good for getting on the trails after a full day of use and a ski meet. Boulder Ridge was skiable and not scraped down to ice. Uphill had some sugar - but nothing horrible. Definitely a unique experience tonight having to dodge a couple kids skiing down the up for Boulder on Alpine skis and a snowboard.
