Manmade Star and Willow Loops were in great shape. Good skis. Classic tracks looks good. B Skis for Lake Loop. There were leaves, some sticks and a couple spots where the asphalt was visible. The snowguns were on towards Frogtown and the Piston Bully was moving. Hopefully, Frogtown will be open soon.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Natural snow trails in decent for now. There is grass and dirt starting to poke up and patches of leaves on the trail in some spots. The nature center spur by the lake is looking pretty rough because it was pretty wind blown. I would ski the hill with the lake trail as the last section of the lake trail has the worst rough patches and leaves. We will not be out grooming the natural trails until it snows again. Snowmaking will resume on the man-made trails tonight when the temps drop.

Yeeeeessss...great to be out for first ski of the year! Lots of folks out but not super bad congestion on the 2 loops. Soft conditions today, especially on uphills. New snow needs to set up a bit. The next loop looked ready to open any day now -- they have lots of snow back there. A little surprise, there was ample debris in the form of small sticks on the surface in many spots. I brought my good skis (new grind...why wouldn't I?) and wish I didn't. Not a big deal but I would bring my B skis until we get a little more snow to cover them up. Regardless, it felt great to slide the sticks again. Just gotta lose the newborn calf legs.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
All the natural snow trails are in decent condition after packing the new snow from last night. A few bare/soft patches on some of the trails. Watch out for a couple ruts on the hill trail and oak knob. Only star loop and part of willow are open for man-made trails so the natural trails cannot be accessed from the start of frogtown. Also we have not made enough snow yet to build proper ramps to the lake trail from star loop. The start of the north trail could be accessed from the first intersection on our service road.

As mentioned, the first 2 loops are open and groomed beautifully. If you were thinking that there is a grace period before passes are being checked, not so! Bring your ski pass. The really good news is that the next several loops are full of snow and opening can't be far behind.

They opened the trails that were promised. For those of us who use miles instead of km each loop is one mile. Great snow, great morning for a ski. Both classical and skate was groomed.
