The East side has been packed/rolled and retracked this morning. Things groomed out to be pretty nice conditions. Minimal icy spots and debris. Grooming plans will be to get to the West side Multi-use trails either later this afternoon or early tomorrow.

I classic skied Lake Elmo Park between 4:30 and 6 pm this afternoon and found the classic tracks pretty much used up which I expected after the snow yesterday and overnight. I skied in the tracks where I could then on the skate deck when tracks disappeared. The sun was breaking through when I arrived at the park around 4:30pm, and the snow on the skate deck was soft and skiable. On the Browns Pond section, three deer crossed the trail and then went behind some trees and just stared at me which allowed me to take a picture. With the soft layer of snow, the downhill sections were more fun than when it's an ice slick. Enjoyable ski, office was closed so could not check on when the groomers were planning their next grooming session.

A lot of fresh snow but no groomed tracks or rolled deck. That somewhat surprised me as a lot of people were at the park. The tracks went from mostly none, to some degree of human made here and there, to wiped out by the skaters.

Trails were in great shape for skating this morning. Classic looked to be mostly good but noticed that occasionally skiers moved onto skating deck where things got a little crusty.

I decided to classic ski Lake Elmo this afternoon. I skied Green to Browns Pond, to the Flats, back to Green, then Prairie to Savanna to finish. Tracks were in decent shape, but pretty icy around the Savanna loop. Groomer did a nice job with the skate deck, I did all my downhills on the skate deck and also used the skate deck when the tracks got too icy. We're still skiing in March, amazing!

Went out around 10:00 this morning. Trails hadn't been groomed when I started but were by the time I finished. Conditions were great for March. Things were a little sticky but there was no ice. Well worth it!

Trails were groomed and tracked. South facing hills and tops of hills are icy. Other areas are starting to get very thin. Grooming plans: Plans are to clean up the skate deck Saturday and possibly groom again on Sunday.

I just called the main office and was told it's been too warm to groom the trails, they haven't been groomed since Saturday. The groomer is hoping to groom tomorrow morning with the colder temperatures.

I was disappointed to find Lake Elmo was not groomed. I skated Hills, Browns Pond and Prairie? (Can't find a map with trail names anymore). It was all corned snow except in the warmest spots where it was water-saturated snow. The weight of the 1 to 2.5 inches of corn snow was a problem because it would stick to my ski's tips or shovels and stop the return or recovery of them at the end of a stride I went down once as a result. Skated more erect because of that in order to lift my skis further out of the snow. Got down all the downhills okay, The long descent from Prairie was actually pretty fast. It was around 38 degrees. I used FastWax Yellow LF buffed with fluoro paste.
