Plenty of snow. But awhile since last groomed, so hard-packed and skittish. And dodge-ball with oak leaves.
In sum, decent spring skiing.

Warm, windy, fast and fun skate deck today! Skied all of the trails on the east side. Lots of debris on the trail so bring your B skis and be prepared for some good wind resistance training out on the prairie areas :)

At 6:30am, trails were quick, and due to overnight lows in the upper 20s, the skate deck had plenty of purchase. Trails were in great shape.

At 8:00pm tonight the lit trails were smooth and bright. Skate deck firm and fast, the rails were sharply cut, deep, smooth as butter and well cast. The conditions were excellent and temps were balmy the warming hut is neat and welcoming. This is a great park to ski in evenings, not too difficult but plenty invigorating.

Beautiful day at Lake Elmo, classic tracks excellent and skate deck groomed. I skied both sides and both were groomed for skate and classical skiing.

Eagle Point was in excellent condition. Corduroy the entire length; surprisingly hard for 21 degree temp. I used FastWaxBlue LF. It was slow with the dry snow.

Skied classic on the Red trail around Eagle Point Lake first. It was almost unused with new grooming and track today. The left side pole plants had to stay close in or they broke through. Lots of leaves but the skis went over them just fine; Atomic Redster skins fit to me by Pioneer Midwest. On the east side, it was the long loop of the combined Green and Brown. That nasty little horse shoe turn at the bottom of a Brown hill almost threw me out because I let up a little. Holding track through that U turn earns you a skill rating beyond intermediate in my book. I aced it yesterday too. It is rare to find track that is intact through that turn. My skill and confidence level is about where it should be in late December. Overall, the combined trails loop had relatively few leaves until the final link back to the Nordic Center. The run down the hill and through the stadium was very fast today. Thank you to the grooming team for such great trails the last two days. Skier traffic was light before 3:00pm.

The tracks were tight, the snow was fast -- please, can we make winter last? Green, brown, yellow trails - perfect classic conditions. Stop and you'll hear the owls hooting.

Skating conditions were excellent on both the east side trails and the Eagle Point Lake loop -- recently re-groomed, solid and fast.

Skied almost all the trails on the east side this afternoon. Classic tracks were in great shape with just a few fallen leaves. Skate deck looked so nice I wish I had brought my skate skis and had the time to stay out longer. Beautiful day at Lake Elmo. Thanks groomers!
