Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The trails haven't been groomed for awhile. I saw that the west side had been groomed so I figured the east must have been also. I was wrong. The east side must be the red headed stepchild. The snow was beautiful and the weather perfect and people had made tracks to follow so it was nice.

[ Good skis ]
Trail not set. Wind has covered the tracks that were set. Hovever, after I skied, there is something to follow. Snow is a nice consistancy.

Excellent - classic tracks reset this morning and in beautiful shape. Firm and lightly used, even the oak leaves weren't too bad!

Really nice skiing today. This section of Battle Creek is double tracked for classic only; tracks are well used but holding up. Limited foot traffic, more deer and dog than hiker damage. Oak leaves, of course. One of the nicest places for classic in the metro.

My friend and I were the first ones out on freshly laid track this morning and it was perfect -- weather and trail conditions. An unwitting walker with a dog had messed up the left-hand track a little along the west side of the loop, not knowing what the tracks were for until we came along. We explained and she immediately moved to the side.

Trails were not groomed when I skied. The snow is beautiful and made for some great trailblazing. Did my best to ski in the previous tracks.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
This part of Battle Creek is classic only. Today was beautiful - tracks still in good shape but softening with the new snow. Little other foot traffic. About 15 degrees and steady snow made it a joy to be out!

Grooves are a little soft, but conditions were pretty much perfect. A few leaves and sticks and a few times poles had difficulty getting purchase (mostly on blacktop sections). Someone skate skied the trail, please be mindful this trail is classic ski only.

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Went skating Tuesday night right after a 3k or so loop was groomed and it was wonderful. Fluffy and fast. Bits of ice exposed here and there, but good overall coverage. I used brand new skis and they came out without any visible scratches, but I would use B skis if you have them. The best skiing I have had this year.
